God Is There

You know when life throws you an unexpected curve ball?

Maybe it’s a sickness that is either short term, or long term and you’re wondering how you’re going to make it through.

Maybe it’s a break in a relationship that you don’t know how you’re going to survive without.

Maybe it’s a loss in your job that has you wondering how you’re going to make ends meet.

Maybe it’s a hurt that is so deep you can’t see your way out of the dark pit that you’ve fallen into.

Whatever your need is today, I have good news for you! You are not alone and God is not surprised. Everything that has happened to you, God sees it all and you know what? He’s still there. He sees your pain. He sees your sickness. He sees your need, whatever it is.

And my God is a God of provision! My God is a God of healing! My God is a God of comfort!

So be encouraged today. Know that even though you can’t see the end and you have NO IDEA how it’s going to work out, God does. He is already at the end. Just put your trust in him and know that He will guide you every step of the way.

All the way to your healing.
All the way to your provision.
All the way to your ending that is so hard to see right now.

The Secret to Being Content

Content.

Webster’s defines content as “pleased and satisfied; not needing more”.

But in reality, how content are we with our lives? In today’s society, I believe it is super hard to truly be content with what we have. We are constantly bombarded with what we perceive as the “perfect life” that other people are living. We see pictures on social media of a perfectly staged photo that shows just the right amount of happiness with just the right filter applied to it to make it seem like a modern day June Cleaver’s family.

When in reality, our lives more resemble the door you close. You know the one. The door we close when people come over that hides all our mess.  (you know we all do it)

Or we see pictures that show families going and doing these awesomely fun activities while we’re stuck at home doing yet another load of laundry, or cleaning the boy’s bathroom…again. It’s easy to begin comparing our lives with the families we see on social media or are regularly around… whether at church, work, or your mom play group. Yet once we began comparing ourselves to others, we fall into a hole of discontentment that is hard to come out of.

God has really been dealing with me lately about stopping the comparison trap and just being content.

Content with what I have now, not what I want to get.

Content with what He’s blessed me with already, not begging for more blessings.

Content with the life I have been given, not the life I dream of having one day.

For I believe we can never be happy with our lives until we are truly content with where we presently are. Because even if we ever “catch up with the Jones’s”, there will always be someone else who has more than we do and then you will have to catch up with them, and it will be a never-ending cycle. However, if we unlock the secret to being pleased and satisfied with the blessings that God has already given us – not needing anymore – then we can truly be at rest.

So if you are feeling a spirit of unrest and dissatisfaction with your life, I want to encourage you to take a new look at the blessings you have right now. For I believe that is the secret of being truly content. And I can guarantee you that if you stop and look at what’s in front of you, your life will begin to look pretty perfect just like it is.
